Joseph G. Milizio is a partner in the Business & Real Estate Practice Group at Capell Vishnick LLP. He has significant experience in all areas of transactional law, with an emphasis in general business transactions, including acquisitions, entity and owner representation, commercial leasing and transactional real estate matters.  Mr. Milizio represents a wide range of business entities, including retailers, manufacturers, healthcare providers and professionals.  His diverse corporate and real estate finance experience includes the representation of both clients and lenders.  Mr. Milizio regularly advises clients on corporate governance matters, dispute resolution and succession planning.  In addition to his business and real estate practice, he has been an executor and trustee of significant estates and trusts.

One of Long Island’s leading advocates for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, Mr. Milizio recently launched a Gay and Lesbian Representation Practice Group at Capell Vishnick.  The practice group offers legal counsel and representation on key issues in the LGBT community, including domestic partnership agreements, co-owner agreements, adoptions, life and estate planning, health care proxies/living wills and employment law/discrimination.  In addition, through Mr. Milizio’s leadership, Capell Vishnick is playing an active role in the launch and growth of Out in Front – Long Island’s LGBT business networking group for entrepreneurs and professionals.  Through their work with Out in Front, Capell Vishnick and Mr. Milizio are working to foster connections among Long Island’s LGBT community through a series of unique business and networking events throughout Long Island.  In addition, Capell Vishnick is also a sponsor of Partners in Pride – the only LGBT business directory on Long Island.

Mr. Milizio is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Nassau County Bar Association, where he serves on the Lawyer Referral Committee, as well as the Corporation Law and Real Estate Committees.  Mr. Milizio is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island. He is currently Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Long Island Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, where he also serves on the MS Walk Committee, the Governance Committee and the Executive Committee.  Mr. Milizio is the team captain of Capell Vishnick’s MS Walk Team, which participates in the annual MS Walk as one of Long Island’s largest MS Walk teams.  Mr. Milizio is an MS Society Leadership Award recipient, which recognizes Long Island’s business leaders.

 Mr. Milizio received his Juris Doctorate in 1983 from Brooklyn Law School.  He graduated magna cum laude from St. John’s University in 1980.
