George Hagerty

George Hagerty is Of Counsel to Capell
Vishnick, LLP and practices in the areas of estate planning,
business planning and taxation. Mr. Hagerty is both an attorney
and a Certified Public Accountant and specializes in both
personal and corporate income taxation. He has been in practice
for over 30 years with an emphasis on individual tax and
financial planning and an understanding of the special needs of
small businesses. Mr. Hagerty’s individual clients range from
young professionals to retired corporate executives, from
expatriates to non-resident aliens. For small businesses, Mr.
Hagerty has developed accounting and tax reporting systems,
performed audits, and prepared compilation reports. He also
negotiates the purchase and sale of businesses, prepares wills,
and probates estates. He has been involved in estate litigation
and handled business valuations.
Prior to starting his own business in 1986, Mr. Hagerty worked
for Arthur Young & Company for twelve years. His experience
there included personal income and estate tax planning as well
as all aspects of corporate taxation and financial accounting
and auditing. His clients included Mobil Corporation, Sperry
Corporation, AMCA International ( a Canadian multinational), and
Burns Fry Limited (a Canadian broker-dealer). In addition, he
headed up the Firm’s New York Office’s qualified plan and
deferred compensation practice.
Mr. Hagerty has a Masters of Law degree in taxation from New
York University (1977), a Juris Doctor’s degree from St. John’s
University (Dean’s List 1974), and a Bachelor of Science degree
in applied economics from Cornell University (1971).
Mr. Hagerty is admitted to practice law in New York. He is also
a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar
Association, the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants, and the New York State Society of CPAs.
