The attorneys in Capell Vishnick’s Tax Practice
Group are dedicated planners and advocates who work with
individuals and businesses to plan, develop and implement tax
saving strategies and to defend against tax conflicts with
federal, state and local tax authorities.
As tax planners, our attorneys first meet with
our clients to learn about their business and personal
aspirations and then assist them to implement creative plans in
order to achieve optimal income and transfer tax savings. For
individuals, planning will often include the use of trusts and
other tax planning techniques to reduce income, estate, gift and
generation skipping transfer taxes. Advanced tax savings
techniques are used to provide estate tax liquidity using
Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts (ILITs), create “tax freezes”
utilizing Qualified Personal Residence Trusts (QPRTs), Grantor
Retained Annuity and Unitrusts (GRATs and GRUTs), Sales to
Intentionally Defective Grantor Trusts (IDGTs), and fulfill
charitable plans by methods utilizing Charitable Annuities,
Charitable Lead Trusts, Charitable Remainder Trusts and Private
Foundations. For individuals and businesses, our attorneys
assist in developing effective strategies to structure business
and investment entities, utilizing Limited Liability Companies,
Family Limited Partnerships and S-Corporations and other
business structures. Such planning may also benefit the
individual by taking advantage of available minority and control
discounts, thereby allowing a person to pass significant
portions his or her estate with minimum gift or estate tax
liability.
As advocates, our attorneys represent individuals
and businesses at federal, state and local tax audits and
litigation with respect to all areas of tax controversies.
